Calm Spirit · Modified Ding Xin Wan

Older than the problem.

Ding Xin Wan, a classical Chinese formula, modernized.

Nine herbs, one formula, still in use. The overstimulation you are trying to settle is new. The formula for settling it is not.

The nine

Nine herbs, one formula, still in use.

In a classical formula the herbs are understood to work together — the traditional description belongs to the finished blend, not to any single ingredient. The full list, with pinyin, is on the product page.

The word on the label

“Modified” is not decoration. Here is exactly what changed.

366 mg Taurine, added An amino acid not found in the classical formula. Supports the nervous system and a healthy stress response.
121 mg Buffered magnesium glycinate, added A modern mineral in its gentlest form — highly absorbable and easy on the stomach. Supports relaxation.
1,366 mg The herbal blend, standardized The nine herbs, mostly as extracts, at a consistent dose in a capsule rather than a decoction you have to brew.

Amounts per 3-capsule serving. 90 capsules per bottle.

Nothing was removed from the classical formula to make room.

How it is taken

A small ritual, kept for the days that ask for one.

  1. Up to three capsules, three times a day

With or without food. The most the formula is written for, not a schedule to hit.

  2. Start with one dose, and see

If one dose is enough, stop there. Take another only when you need it again.

  3. On the days you expect to need it

The overstimulated week, the stretch with no quiet in it. Not a permanent daily habit.

How long a bottle lasts. A 90-capsule bottle is roughly ten to fifteen days at the full dose, and considerably longer if one dose is all you need.

Who is making it

Lineage is only worth invoking if you can show your own.

Today

Modern research, ancient wisdom.

I have used this on the advice of an acupuncturist and have found it to help relax me at night.

Individual experiences shared in customer reviews; not a guarantee of results.

Told upfront, not in the fine print

One thing worth knowing before you order.

Individuals with spleen qi deficiency should take Calm Spirit with caution, as loose stools or diarrhea may result. If that phrase means something to you, you already know whether it applies. If it does not, your acupuncturist or practitioner can tell you in about a minute.

And the ordinary one: if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication, talk to your healthcare practitioner before starting this or any supplement.

Still in use, for a reason.

Nine herbs, taurine and gentle magnesium, in a formula practitioners have reached for since 1984. Ninety capsules, no melatonin, nothing to wean yourself off.
