Would you please review pediatric dosages related to Health Concerns’ formulas?
We dose children by weight. To calculate this, please refer to the Health Concerns Clinical Handbook for the adult dosage, which is based on a weight of 100 lbs. Turn the child’s weight into the percentage of the adult dose that they should take. If 9 capsules is the recommended adult dosage and the child weighs 45 lbs, the child would take 45% of 9 capsules or 4-5 capsules. If you wish to simplify the process, use 1/3 of the adult dosage for children 7 and under. For children 7-12 years of age, use 2/3 of the adult dosage. For children over 12, use the adult dosage. These dosing strategies are based on children who are more or less healthy, not for children who are physically or mentally disabled.
You mentioned a study on pediatric asthma. I’d like to look it up online. Would you please repeat the name?

What would you suggest for treating a three year old boy with non-specific allergies, dark circles under his eyes, more of a carb diet than protein and with occasional belly ache?
When treating kids with allergies (dark circles under the eyes is one of the symptoms of allergies), I would certainly remove all bovine (cow) dairy products first and if necessary, remove goat’s milk as well. Enteromend would be a great formula to help him with his allergies as it would lower his allergic response. Over time, I would consider tonics such as Astra C or CordySeng to help tonify his lung qi and spleen qi.
What do you recommend for treating a child with a cold or flu that’s accompanied by fever or copious amounts of mucous?
The base formula would be our Yin Chao Junior, which is a tincture. It balances the digestion, drives out the virus or bacteria, removes phlegm and stops coughing. Dosage: For young children, we recommend having them take 1 dropperful several times a day. Pre-teens would take 2 droppers full every couple of hours and teens would take 3 droppers full every couple of hours to every hour. For a child with a cold that presents with a tremendous amount of phlegm, I recommend using Yin Chao Junior as the base formula, then add 1-2 capsules of Clear Phlegm (be sure to monitor the child, as this is a drying formula). In the case of fever, if the parent wants to bring a fever down with herbal products before taking the child to a pediatrician, I recommend using Yin Chao Junior as the base formula and adding 1 to 2 capsules of Cold Away each time you give Yin Chao Junior.
