49-year-old female patient who recently presented with cystitis. She has eliminated alcohol, coffee, and citrus from her diet and taken two rounds of Akebia Moist Heat. She continues to have bladder pain and CT scan and urine culture were normal. She has been on Woman’s Balance and Three Immortals long term for peri-menopause symptoms, irregular menses and intermittent vaginal bleeding.

Tongue: pale swollen with teeth marks and a greasy thick yellow coat at root.
Pulse: slippery

Would you recommend another dose of Akebia Moist Heat? I was thinking starting her on Clearing and keeping her on the Woman’s Balance and Three Immortals. Please advise. Thank you.

If Akebia Moist Heat is on hand, yes, we would recommend taking it. Otherwise, we would consider Unlocking, which may work better for bladder pain. As soon as the course of Akebia Moist Heat or Unlocking is finished we would recommend following up with Clearing for 3-6 months, which can be added to Woman’s Balance and Three Immortals.
