Allergic Rhinitis

Gerald came to me with a lifetime of allergic rhinitis symptoms. His main symptoms included watery and red eyes, sneezing, wheezing, irritability and depression. He was currently administered allergy shots and Claritin D® (loratadine pseudoephedrine), which did not control his symptoms. I suggested he take 2 capsules of Xanthium Relieve Surface and 1 capsule of Astra C three to four times per day. He contacted me the next day wondering if it was possible that the herbs worked in one day.          

Although many of the people using this protocol get results within twenty-four hours, approximately ninety percent of clients achieve a clinical result in the first week when they take the herbs as directed and follow basic lifestyle and diet advice. How does this combination work so well? Xanthium Relieve Surface combines two traditional formulas and has been modified for the special needs of American patients. Many of these herbs enter the lung meridian, relieve nasal symptoms and bolster defensive energy. Astra C is rooted in Jade Screen Formula (Yu Ping Feng San), with added vitamin C and highly absorbable zinc citrate. Both formulas contain astragalus (huang qi) which improves several immune parameters including increased macrophages, NK cell activity, and phagocytosis.

Typically clients who have mild allergy symptoms use the Xanthium Relieve Surface and Astra C treatment at the first sign of symptoms, whereas clients with severe allergy symptom do best to take Astra C, or the popular Astra 8 formula, during symptom-free times, and Xanthium Relieve Surface along with Astra C as soon as symptoms occur. By building up the defensive energy with Astra C or Astra 8 during the “off season”, typically allergic symptoms are milder when irritants are in the air.

Common Allergens in Health Concerns Formulas

All products are yeast, corn, and wheat free.

All egg free except: Collagenex 2 (eggshell membrane)

Lactose/dairy: there is less lactose in a capsule of Colostroplex than in a single drop of milk. Our experience is that 90% or more of the people who are dairy intolerant can benefit from Colostroplex. It only has trace amounts of milk, which is unavoidable; but it is mostly immune factors, almost no dairy.

All soy free except: Cogni-Spark (soy lecithin) and Yin Chao Jin (soy lecithin).

Gluten: Escape Restraint and Quiet Digestion have trace amounts of gluten from barley. There is no other gluten, malt, or barley in the formulas.

Nut: Aloe 22 (black walnut hulls), Formula V (horse chestnut).

Sugar: All products are sugar free.

 

Effective Allergy Treatment

The combination of Xanthium Relieve Surface (2 capsules) and Astra C (1 capsules) three to four times per day is effective in approximately 80-90 percent of the people who use this protocol. In certain cases however this protocols can be modified depending upon your clients symptoms.  

  • Xanthium Relieve Surface plus Clear Phlegm, can be used with copious mucous
  • Xanthium Relieve Surface plus Coptis Purge Fire, is used with allergy symptoms and heat signs, particularly fast pulse, headaches, and blood shot eyes
  • Xanthium Relieve Surface plus CordySeng, for clients with allergy and asthma symptoms Xanthium Relieve Surface plus Six Gentlemen, is particularly useful if clients have allergy symptoms and damp spleen issues

Global Warming May Extend Allergy Season

Sneezing, congestion, and runny noses from hay fever may be lasting longer because climate change may be extending pollen seasons, said doctors in Italy. Pollen seasons as well as the amount of pollen in the air progressively increased during a 26-year study in Italy, the doctors told a meeting of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in New Orleans. The team at Genoa University recorded pollen counts, how long pollen seasons lasted and sensitivity to five types of pollen in the Bordighera region of Italy from 1981 to 2007.

Allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, is a reaction to indoor or outdoor airborne allergens, such as pollen. Longer pollen seasons and high levels of pollen certainly can exacerbate symptoms for people with allergic rhinitis and for those who previously had minimal symptoms, said the AAAAI’s Estelle Levetin, who was not involved in the study. Hay fever is associated with asthma, eczema, sinusitis, and ear infection. About 25 million Americans, nearly half of them children, had hay fever in the past year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.[i]

Xanthium Relieve Surface is based on two traditional herbal formulas, Bi Yan Pian and Yu Ping Feng San, to treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. For fast symptom relief it is usually combined with Astra C, which is used to prevent allergy symptoms; Take two capsules, three times a day of Xanthium Relieve Surface with one capsule of Astra C, three times per day. Most people will get symptomatic relief without drowsiness within a few days or sooner. To prevent and lessen the severity of allergy symptoms during hay fever season, take two to four capsules of Astra C per day.

Treatment of Allergies & Hay Fever

One out of three people in the U.S. has allergies. Allergies often run in families and are growing in prevalence. One of the theories about the rise in allergies is the hygiene hypothesis, which suggests that by reducing our exposure to bacteria, our bodies may overreact to harmless substances such as pollen. Additional possibilities include the use of antacids, which suppress immune function, the reduction in breast-feeding, less physical activity, pollutants, items found in new homes (including carpeting and particle board furniture), and first- and secondhand cigarette smoke. Normally, the immune system defends the body against foreign substances. However, for people who are susceptible to allergens, the body reacts physically with common allergic reactions including runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, skin rash, and itchy eyes and skin. Swelling may also occur. Asthma may be triggered by allergies. Seasonal allergies, commonly known as hay fever, result from airborne particles such as pollens that occur only during part of the year.

Particularly sensitive individuals can react more dramatically with anaphylactic reactions that require immediate medical attention, with symptoms including difficulty breathing and falling blood pressure. Blood tests can be performed to measure eosinophils, a type of white blood cell that is produced in large numbers during an allergic reaction, along with other tests to identify allergens that provoke a reaction.

The primary treatment for allergies is to avoid the allergen, whether it’s a particular food, animal, chemical, or drug. I have discovered that the combination of Xanthium Relieve Surface and Astra C yields quick symptomatic relief within three days for the majority of patients with hay fever and perennial allergies. The protocol is as follows: at the first stages of allergic symptoms, take two capsules of Xanthium Relieve Surface and one capsule of Astra C three to four times per day. Once allergy season is over, continue to take Astra C, three to six capsules per day in order to prevent symptoms. One of my clients, Tad, had a lifelong history of allergic rhinitis. He tried allergy shots, steroids, and prescription and non-prescription antihistamines. Tad found the same day after beginning the protocol of Xanthium Relieve Surface and Astra C, his allergy symptoms were eliminated. Tad took Astra C throughout the fall and the next winter and noticed he barely needed Xanthium Relieve Surface the following spring.

For allergies with copious mucus, combine Xanthium Relieve Surface with Clear Phlegm (Wen Dan Tang). Once mucus has been reduced, eliminate Clear Phlegm and use Astra C. Why does the combination of Xanthium Relieve Surface and Astra C work so powerfully? Xanthium Relieve Surface is a combination of the traditional formulas Bi Yan Pian and Yu Ping Feng San (Jade Screen Formula). Astra C combines vitamin C and zinc citrate with the traditional formula Jade Screen Powder, which is used to enhance the body’s protective power, or wei qi. These two formulas put together provide a powerful punch against the symptoms of allergic rhinitis and perennial allergies.
