What is different about the wheat produced today?
The wheat we eat today has been bio-engineered to contain nearly 90 percent more gluten than the type our grandparents ate. Far beyond bread, pasta and cereals, gluten is in everything from soups to ice cream.
Which foods contain gluten?
Wheat, barley, rye, spelt and kamut. Oats contain gluten like molecules and are usually restricted in a gluten free diet.
Which disorders have been linked to gluten intolerance?
Digestive disorders, dermatitis, psoriasis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, osteoporosis and chronic fatigue syndrome have been linked to gluten intolerance. The gluten free diet has also helped people with headaches, weight management, peak brain and athletic performance.
What gluten free eating plan do you endorse?
There are many good programs. The Digestive Clearing Program was developed by Andrew Gaeddert, author of Healing Digestive Disorders. It is a rotation diet designed to discover which foods produce symptoms and which foods do not.
Is gluten found in drugs and herbal products?
Prescription drugs do not need to have all the ingredients listed on the label and gluten can be included. Gluten is found in several Chinese herbs including fu xiao mai, mai ya and shen qu. Some overseas manufacturers may be using gluten in the production process without the knowledge of their distributor as gluten intolerance is rarely diagnosed in Asia. After taking a formula from an herbalist in Chinatown, one of our clients’ symptoms got much worse. On closer inspection, it turned out one of the ingredients contained malt, which exacerbated the client’s gluten intolerance.
Why should I use Health Concerns formulas?
Health Concerns and our founder, Andrew Gaeddert, have been recommending gluten free diets for over twenty-five years to people with digestive, immune and neurological conditions. What this experience means is that Health Concerns partners with health professionals so that your patients can restore their health and thrive. Health Concerns’ Colostroplex™ improves intestinal integrity, decreases hypersensitive reactions and has probiotic effects. Spleen tonics such as Six Gentlemen™, Shen Ling™ and Source Qi™ improve digestive and immune system functioning. Phellostatin™ helps clients with yeast overgrowth, which is frequently seen by clients with gluten intolerance. Finally, Andrew Gaeddert has developed a specific formula, Enteromend™, which is taken before meals to break down food complexes. It is administered between meals to reduce inflammation and aid in the removal of gluten molecules.
Can you tell me more about using Enteromend™ with Gluten Intolerance?
Enteromend™ addresses the symptoms of food intolerance including cramping, bloating, belching, intestinal gas, nausea and diarrhea. It can be used between meals to help heal the intestines as well as to reduce reactions to food when taken with meals.
Enteromend™ specifically helps people with wheat and gluten intolerance by increasing the activity of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV). The lack of this enzyme activity in the small intestine prevents the digestion of gluten fragments. It is thought that these peptide fragments, if left undigested, elicit immune responses that can inflame the lining of the small intestines. Enteromend™ includes a full complement of enzymes to digest dairy products, protein, carbohydrates and fats.
