Better Results through Improved Patient Communications

Thursday, May 31, 2018

9am Pacific Time

Communications with patients are an often forgotten component of treatment and can range from diagnostic to therapeutic. Focused communications have been shown to be as effective as medications in the management of chronic pain. A clinician’s ability to communicate effectively with patients requires more than skill in conducting patient intake interviews.

There are many potential barriers to effective patient- practitioner communications such as the growing demands of productivity. Increased paperwork and the use of electronic medical records encourage clinicians only to check boxes on a screen which can inhibit effective communications.  This is especially problematic for those with the complex diagnosis often seen in American alternative and integrative practices. Furthermore, too few of the teachers presenting at acupuncture, herbal and naturopathic schools are familiar with the best communication practices.

In today’s webinar, we will focus on improving your ability to communicate with your patients in ways that will have a lasting impact.  We will analyze an array of clinical communications and discuss what works and what doesn’t work and how to achieve better results through more effective clinical communications. You will hear about relevant case studies from health professionals associated with Sloan Memorial Cancer Center, CPMC, John Muir Medical Center, American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Bastyr University and private practices across the USA.

Our goals are strengthening the doctor patient relationship, improving compliance with your therapies, reducing poor online evaluations and increasing referrals through more effective clinical results.

This class is being taught by Andrew Gaeddert and special guest faculty. As a pioneer in the fields of acupuncture and herbal medicine, Andrew Gaeddert has over thirty years in practice. As a clinician, patient, and teacher he has witnessed some of the best examples of patient communications. As a special bonus we will be presenting best practices for communications during herbal consultations.
